How to Wear Leggings in Style?

For some women, leggings are never a style option, but for others, knowing how to wear leggings makes all the difference between looking chic versus looking like a fashion throwback.
Leggings are one of those items that women usually either love or hate. They're easy to slip on, and with the wide range of colors available, they're easy to accessorize. However, they aren't the right choice for every situation.

If you like the ease of leggings, but want to make sure you always wear them appropriately, consider these tips:

Wear leggings with tunics: Not all styles of tops work with leggings. The simplest way for women to sport leggings is underneath a tunic. Tunics vary in length, so it's important that your tunic is long enough to cover your hips and rear. Because leggings fit so close to the body, you want your top to come down past your hips - otherwise, this is a look better suited for the gym instead of the street. Your tunic top can be in sweater form or knit jersey material. You can wear a belt with it or not. Just make sure your look is balanced - since a tunic is roomy, your leggings should be fitted. One way to sport a monochromatic, casually elegant ensemble is to wear a black tunic with black leggings and black high heel boots. This is perfect for cool weather.

Make sure your top is proportioned for shorter women so that it doesn't fall past your mid-thighs - otherwise, it can look like you're wearing a dress with leggings underneath. Also, your ensemble should be as monochromatic as possible for an elongating look. Tall women should also select their tops with care. You want to wear a shirt that comes down far enough so that your rear isn't exposed.

Choose the right shoes: Leggings look best with flats, such as ballerina flats, or plain pumps. Boots are another great option to wear with leggings.

Don't wear a tight shirt: Because leggings are so fitted, it's best to steer clear of tight shirts for the best look. These items work better when your overall outfit is balanced, pairing roomy with fitted.

Wearing leggings with dresses: Dresses that fall at or above the knee can work with leggings. This is one case where a close-fitting dress would look good with leggings, such as a jersey knit dress with a wide belt at the waist. Leggings also work with bohemian fashions or billowy, casual dresses for women.

Pair them with mini-skirts: One look that's popular for younger women is pairing leggings with mini-skirts, particularly denim skirts. Slip into a pair of flat shoes, add a coordinating top and this is an easy, casual outfit perfect for weekends.

Coordinate colors: Leggings are best used as an accessory to your outfit, not the main ingredient, so choose your ensemble first, then add leggings if you want. Your leggings' color should match something else in your outfit for the most harmonious pairing.

8 High Heel Tips You Should Know When You Wear High Heels

Test-drive high heels before the big day

An important meeting or a hot first date is not the place to break in your new heels. So what is? The supermarket, Get a cart and go for a spin. As you stock up on groceries, use the cart for balance while your feet get used to the new high heel.

OK, so being naturally stunning is one half of the whole modeling gig—but keeping your balance in treacherous shoes on a slippery runway is the hard part! The more aware you are of your core muscles, the better chance you have of staying steady.

Take a seat every 20 minutes or so

Whenever and wherever you can, sit, sit, sit!, And cross your legs so that all can see your beautiful, fashion-forward, painful footwear. Think of yourself as a model on a photo shoot and stretch from the waist. So don’t be afraid to give your tootsies a rest every now and then—you’ll last longer with breaks and give people a better view of your incredible shoes.

Customize and cushion your shoes

When you buy a new pair of shoes, you need to customize them for your feet. Bring them home, wear them for an hour, and anywhere you feel a bit of pain or rubbing, that’s where you want to address because it will become very painful after four hours of wear. You mostly feel it on the ball of your foot, because that’s where the pressure has been distributed. Do it before the first time you wear them out!

Straighten up—from legs to spine

Walking in heels is not an easy task, even for us models who wear them almost every day. Make sure when you take a step you straighten and extend your leg—it’ll help you move gracefully and elegantly. Otherwise, you can look very uncoordinated, and your walk will appear choppy.

Slice and dice the soles of your shoes for safety

A slippery surface plus sky-high heels spells inevitable disaster. Prep your soles with a discreet little pad like Grippy Steps, which affix to the bottom of your shoe and help create some traction on marble, tile and carpet. In need of a quicker fix? Scratch the bottom of your soles with sandpaper, or—even cheaper—head out to the driveway and start scuffing.

Focus on your core

Yup, getting a feel for where your weight falls in high heels is easier if you try it with your eyes closed first—just don’t take a step! Before you even walk in them, stand up, close your eyes, put your hand on your core and get a good feel for them .Then open your eyes a little bit, then a bit more, and start taking a few steps while you focus on that core area. Your body will be forced to readjust and use other muscles to help you balance.

Be confident

There is absolutely no substitute for knowing you look amazing in a pair of stilettos. You have to feel good and make it work! Don’t let the fear of stumbling keep you from owning these shoes. Think of yourself as a model in attitude and presence. When you wear high heels, you look good and you feel good!

Jewelry Fashion Match Tips for Women

Once you're dressed in your pants suit, jeans and blouse, or even your little black dress, you can't forget the finishing touches. Jewelry is an important part of fashion that should not be neglected, even if all you put on is a gold band on your thumb. There are a few jewelry fashion tips to keep in mind when you are finishing off your look.

Any time you wear what can be considered a blouse, especially one with short sleeves or three-quarter sleeves, you should wear a bracelet on one of your arms. If you are going for a casual look, especially with jeans, try silver or gold bangles or a wide metal or acrylic slip-on bracelet. For an edgy look, such as with an asymmetrical dress, try a metal cuff bracelet (shaped like a "C"). For a formal or upscale look, stick with an elegant and simple diamond tennis bracelet or a mesh bracelet made of a precious metal (see Resources for an example). Avoid wearing bracelets on both wrists, as that can overwhelm your look.

The necklace that you wear will depend mostly on the neckline of your blouse or dress. If you're wearing a V-neck or scoop-neck top, go with a drop necklace with a charm on the end. Wear a precious gem, crystal or rhinestone charm, with both formal and casual wear. Choker necklaces look nice with strapless dresses that expose the chest and spaghetti strap styles.

Details are everything. Even the smallest detail, like a diamond stud, could be the perfect accessory to complete your outfit. There are three main types of earrings that are popular for women in fashion---hoops, drop earrings and studs.
Hoop earrings should be worn with casual wear, though you can feel free to wear small hoops (the width of a finger) with formal outfits---especially when the hoops are diamond- or rhinestone-studded. Drop earrings are generally extravagant or artistic. They are meant to be admired and commented upon. Put on a pair of drop earrings when you have a special occasion---an event where you will surely be "seen." Most styles of drop earrings go nicely with formal gowns (you see these frequently at red carpet events), dressy pant suits and jeans, when you are wearing a head-turning blouse. Diamond or other gem studs are best for casual, everyday outfits.

Do not overdo your jewelry when accessorizing. Depending on the styles you choose, there are situations where just one interesting piece of jewelry, like a colorful rhinestone bracelet, or a pair of chandelier earrings, will be enough for the whole outfit. One of the rare acceptable situations when you could wear a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet is when you have a simple drop diamond charm necklace, diamond stud earrings and a tennis bracelet.
